The course prepares students to work as birth support doulas. The course teaches the process of birth and explains how actions taken by those attending a birth will affect the way in which birth unfolds. From this basis doulas learn to provide support that helps the woman to birth in a positive manner and to achieve the very best birth for herself and her baby.
Following completion of the course the doula is able to run her own business in birth support and be fully competent and confident to provide informational, physical and emotional support in a variety of birthing environments and situations. The course is provided in four downloadable modules. Each module includes textual material and video lectures, demonstrations and outlines. Before completion of the course the student is required to attend three births.
